This Design

This vintage design is a historically accurate adaptation of the original c1938 Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Yellowstone National Park WPA poster.   This wood wall sign design features real birch wood and American timber with the art printed directly on it.  The main body of the tall sign is true to the Robin’s egg blue original color used in the historic poster.   The ¼” thick edges of the plaque are hand painted brown matching the border.   The bold block lettering used in the original screen-printed posters appears across the base of the image and reads “YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK.  U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR.  NATIONAL PARK SERVICE,”   and in the center of the area appears the official Seal form that period with a buffalo and eagle. Filing the face of the tall sign is Old Faithful erupting in all its glory and white high altitude wispy cirrus clouds streaking the sky above the low tree line.  “AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL” appears at the top in the blue and tan colors used elsewhere in the sign.  Two wood struts run across the back to stand the wall décor plaque off the wall about ½” for nice depth and effect.  The sign is hot-branded on its rear by hand with a real hot branding iron to prove it is made-in-America and hand-made.
