Since 1973, a small Brevard County hospital has been quietly rescuing the wild Florida that most people only see from the side of the road. Florida Wildlife Hospital & Sanctuary has admitted, treated, and released thousands of sick, injured, and orphaned native animals, and it has done so without charging a single cent.

More Than 7,500 Patients a Year
Florida Wildlife Hospital is open to wildlife patients 365 days a year. They care for more than 7,500 patients annually, owls, tortoises, fledglings, fox kits, raccoons, sea birds, and just about every other native species you can imagine.
There is never a charge for animal care. Yet they receive no state or federal funding. Florida Wildlife Hospital is the only facility of its kind in their region, and they provide immeasurable, often life-or-death value to the local community and the wildlife under their care.
Why a Wildlife Hospital Exists in the First Place
Most of the wild animals brought to FWH are suffering from injuries or problems caused, directly or indirectly, by humans. Window strikes. Cars. Fishing line. Habitat loss. So FWH's mission isn't only animal care. It's also public education, teaching the community how to reduce its negative impact on local wildlife in the first place.
